The Presbyterian Church (USA) is called to witness to the new reality which God has made available to all people in Jesus Christ. Those wishing to become members of South Plains Presbyterian Church may speak to the Pastor or to any member of the Session. Classes for Inquirers are led by the Pastor and officers, and are offered at various times during the year. New members are examined and received by the Session, after which they reaffirm vows made at Baptism and are welcomed by the congregation during a Sunday worship service. New Members may join South Plains Presbyterian Church by:

  • Profession of Faith in Jesus Church – for those who have never made a public statement of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Reaffirmation of Faith in Jesus Christ – for those who come from a church that will not recognize their transfer or for those who may have been inactive members for some time
  • Transfer of Certificate – for those transferring membership from another Christian congregation

At South Plains Presbyterian Church all new members are asked to reaffirm the vows taken at Baptism by:

  • Professing their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Renouncing evil and affirming their reliance on God’s grace
  • Declaring their intention to participate actively and responsibly in the worship and mission of the church.

A faithful member accepts Christ’s call to be involved responsibly in the ministry of his Church. Such involvement includes:

  • Proclaiming the Good News
  • Taking part in the common life and worship of a particular church
  • Praying and studying Scripture and the faith of the Christian Church
  • Supporting the work of the church through the giving of money, time, and talents
  • Participating in the governing responsibilities of the church
  • Demonstrating a new quality of life within and through the church
  • Responding to God’s activity in the world through service to others
  • Living responsibly in the personal, family, vocational political, cultural and social relationships of life
  • Working in the world for peace, justice, freedom and human fulfillment
