Mission Crafters Dedication – 2018

During worship on Sunday, August 26, the South Plains’ congregation participated in the dedication of items made in the past year by South Plains Mission Crafters. The sanctuary was decorated with some of the over-seven hundred baby caps, baby gowns, sweaters and cap sets, blankets, and quilts that have been completed this year. In addition, throughout the year Mission Crafters provides samplers for each family in a new Habitat for Humanity home and prayer quilts are created for individuals in the congregation and community.

The purpose of Mission Crafters is to provide handmade items for distribution through Presbyterian Benevolence Foundation, Church World Service, Habitat for Humanity, and other local, regional, and international programs. All projects are knit, crocheted, or stitched by members of the South Plains congregation and friends of the congregation around the country.

Members and friends of the congregation are invited to participate in the work of Mis- sion Crafters. If you knit, crochet, stitch, or use a sewing machine, you are welcome to assist with this meaningful and helpful mission outreach program. There is no official membership in Mission Crafters. Most of the work of Mission Crafters is done at home, but some members of the group meet after worship on the third Sunday of most months to coordinate projects and to consider occasional requests for new projects. The group provides patterns and supplies.
