Christian Education

educationAt South Plains, the goal of Christian education is to help each person mature in their faith no matter at what point they may be along their journey.  Through our Sunday School classes and special events, South Plains offers opportunities to people of all ages to nurture and grow in their faith.

Sunday School is held for all ages from September through May from 9:45 to 10:30 am.  Our early childhood and elementary-aged classes use the Presbyterian Church's “We Believe” curriculum. Our youth and adult classes participate in several different educational offerings during the church school year including Bible study, didactic learning, and discussion groups.

Each summer we join our neighbor church, Union Grove Baptist, for a week long Vacation Bible School.

Nursery is provided for each Sunday church service for children ages birth through second grade.

We rely exclusively on volunteers to teach our classes. If anyone is interested in teaching Sunday School for the 2017-2018 Sunday School year, please contact Aimee Creamer, Session Member for Christian Education.

Gordon Lindsey, guest preacher at South Plains Church, has written a book about Paul’s letter to the Galatians entitled “Charter of Christian Freedom: A Layperson’s Study Guide to Paul’s letter to the Galatians.” It is a very readable and thought-provoking analysis of the epistle. The Adult Sunday School class will be studying the book this Fall, beginning September 10 at 9:45-10:30am in the large adult classroom. If you have ever enjoyed Reverend Lindsey’s sermons, enjoy studying the writings of Paul. Or if you have ever been challenged or confused when reading Galatians, this is the class for you. Everyone is welcome. You don’t have to read the book to join in the discussions - the Bible is sufficient.

Copies of the book can be obtained from the publisher Wipf and Stock at or from Additional information can be found in the March 2017 edition of “The Vine.”
